Well, previously I have written on how I have given Ruiheng his very first pacifier and that it sooth him immediately and sent him to dreamland.Well, I have throw that 'excellent prop' away after struggling with my dilemma on whether to give, or not to give. My gynae advised me not to give. I have friends who advised me not to give. In fact, more people (and books) asked me not to give, then to give. In the end, it was Ruiheng's constant waking up on the first night of introducing the paci (searching for his lost paci) that compelled me to throw it out of the window (not literally lah).Since that fateful day, we have either been carrying Ruiheng to sleep, or on those good days, he will doze off on his bed himself (only when noisy kor kor is not around). And we noticed yesterday that while trying to get himself to sleep, he found his thumb and started sucking on it! In a minute, he zonked out!I am glad! He can self sooth now! Even though I would have to deal with his thumb sucking in the future when he's older, I gather that he will outgrow it, just like all other children have done (you don't see a 7 year old sucking thumb, do you?). In the meantime, I am willing to let him suck to his heart content and send himself to dreamland and give my back (and arms) a break from the carrying... which hopefully will really end soon. :)
